
Citizens of Soil is an ethically sourced, single-estate, extra virgin olive oil brand initially based on the island of Crete and now spreading across the Mediterranean; to Spain, Croatia, Portugal and the Peloponnese peninsula. They work on a refill basis to reduce waste, together with local, heritage and family owned olive growers in the regions. Their brand has spread from restaurants, events and now is sold in Ocado.
Also included in each box was a coaster which the customer could place their bottle of oil on and keep their surface clean. I designed the coaster with the ingredients and flavours written on the edge of the coaster so even when the bottle is set down, you can identify which oil you’ve poured into the refillable bottle.
The first piece of marketing I created for Citizens of Soil was their recipe card which accompanied each package of new Olive Oil. Olive Oil can be served with many things and to engage and keep the interest of their customers Citizens of Soil made a connection by introducing the farmers of each oil as well as including a recipe which would pair nicely with the flavour of each new product.
I also created business cards using their play on Olive Oil being the new luxury substitute for wine.
We discussed different print finishes and paper stock to make these cards more high-end and memorable.
